Middlesex Police Participates in Food Drive – November 18, 2020
Police Chief Matthew P. Geist proudly announced that the Middlesex Borough Police Department assisted youth volunteers from the borough collect 8,950 pounds of food and other essential household items. The donations were gathered in support of Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Service’s (MCFOODS) annual food drive. The total represented an increase of 2,200 pounds in food and other essential household items from last year’s food drive. This was the fourth year of food drive partnership between the Middlesex Borough Police Department and the dedicated team of youth volunteers. Lisa Chippendale led the volunteer effort while School Resource Officer Joleen Auricchio coordinated the police department’s activities. “Our community’s response to the 2020 food drive was extraordinary,” said Chief Geist. “Middlesex is truly a caring community that generously supplied MCFOODS with over four tons of food and other essential items to support those in need. Our youth and parent volunteers should be commended for their efforts during these challenging times.” ACME Markets, SuperFood Fresh Supermarket, Stom’s Car Care Center, Costco Wholesale of North Plainfield and the Middlesex Borough Senior Center/Recreation Department all played a vital role by participating as collection sites.
