News Release – March 30, 2022

March 15, 2022 @ 1:49 P.M. – An employee of the Petroleum 19 gas station, 309 Lincoln Boulevard, reported that an individual utilized counterfeit currency to obtain $45.00 worth of gasoline. Officer Scott Mulford investigated.

March 21, 2022 @ 2:10 A.M. – Jacob A. Rivera, 23, of South Bound Brook was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle crash in the area of Union Avenue and Melrose Avenue. Officer Marc Arancio investigated.

March 21, 2022 @ 10:07 P.M. – A resident of First Street reported that she was a victim of fraud. The resident first received an email containing an invoice from what she initially believed was a legitimate company. She contacted the telephone number listed in the email and spoke with a male who requested her personal information, which she provided. She was then instructed to purchase Target gift cards at a CVS Pharmacy and provided the caller with the PIN numbers, realizing afterward that she had been scammed. The resident suffered a reported loss of $3,000.00 as a result of the fraud. Officer George Pilesky investigated.

March 23, 2022 @ 8:13 P.M. – Heather T. Griffith, 34, of Bound Brook was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle crash in the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Mountain Avenue. Officer Anthony Painchaud investigated.

March 29, 2022 @ 6:22 P.M. – A resident of Gramercy Gardens reported the theft of a package from the front porch of his residence. Officer Scott Christofides investigated.

As is the case with all defendants, charges are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
