Vehicle Tow Releases

You must obtain a Tow Release Form from Police Headquarters before proceeding to the tow yard.

Tow release forms are available at police headquarters 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can only be provided to the registered owner of the vehicle. The registered owner’s driver license, vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance must be verified prior to being provided a tow release form.

Those charged with Driving While Intoxicated or Impaired must wait 12 hours from the time of the arrest to obtain a tow release – see “John’s Law” (N.J.S.A. 39:4-50.23) for further details.
