News Release – August 27, 2022

August 8, 2022 – Bobbie Gaddy, 79, of Middlesex was charged with Failing to Provide a Living Animal with Necessary Care, stemming from a report received that a dog was outside in extreme heat, without adequate food or water. Sergeant George Pilesky, the Humane Law Enforcement Officer for the Middlesex Borough Police Department, investigated.

August 12, 2022 @ 1:01 P.M. – A resident of Marlborough Avenue reported a fraud attempt. The resident received a phone call from an unknown male who identified himself as an attorney. The male advised the resident that his grandson was arrested after an accident and needed $8,900.00 to post bail. The resident withdrew the requested amount from a bank and was instructed to turn over the money to an “associate,” who visited the resident’s home. The resident grew suspicious and refused to turn over any of the money. The resident then called his grandson and confirmed that he was never arrested. Officer Paul Steffanelli and Officer Christian Dulin investigated.

August 13, 2022 @ 9:23 A.M. – A resident of Voorhees Avenue reported a theft of a passport and cash from her unlocked motor vehicle. The total reported loss was $409.00. Officer Colin DeVincenzo investigated.

August 18, 2022 @ 11:02 P.M. – A business owner on Lincoln Boulevard reported that his property was burglarized and that four ounces of marijuana, reportedly valued at $350.00, was stolen. Officer Jamie Marczak and Detective Sergeant Daniel McCue are investigating.

August 19, 2022 @ 6:24 A.M. – A resident of Lincoln Boulevard reported that approximately two weeks prior, his vehicle was unlawfully entered. Nothing was reported to have been stolen. Ofc. Jamie Marczak investigated.

August 22, 2022 @ 7:09 P.M. – Felix R. Chango Melendez, 32, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with DWI following a report of a motor vehicle crash in the area of Bound Brook Road and South Lincoln Avenue. Officer Bryan Rodrigues investigated.

August 23, 2022 @ 12:19 A.M. – Officer Jamie Marczak, Officer Bryan Rodrigues and Officer Joshua Pham responded to the 7-Eleven, 99 Lincoln Boulevard for a report of an armed robbery. It was determined that an unknown male approached a gas station attendant, brandished a firearm and demanded cash. After receiving a sum of money, the suspect fled the area on foot. Detective Sergeant Daniel McCue will be conducting a follow up investigation.

As is the case with all defendants, charges are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
