News Release – October 24, 2022

October 2, 2022 @ 5:18 P.M. – A resident of Pond Avenue reported she fell victim to a “romance scam.” The resident stated she began communicating with someone she met through social media and was led to believe they were in the military, stationed overseas. The resident reported this person convinced her to send money in the mail and through Bitcoin under the guise of assisting them with importing a parcel of gold bars. After doing so, she realized she had been scammed. The reported loss was $7,400.00. Officer Robert Dangler investigated.

October 9, 2022 @ 11:05 A.M. – An employee of 7-Eleven, 1280 Bound Brook Road reported an incident involving a disorderly customer. Through investigation, it was determined that a male entered the store, concealed potato chips inside of his sweatshirt and was confronted by an employee. The male yelled at the employee, threw food at a cigarette display and pushed a rack of bananas onto the floor prior to exiting. Officer Paul Steffanelli and Officer April Menditto investigated.

October 18, 2022 @ 9:47 P.M. – A resident of Harris Avenue dialed 9-1-1 and reported he located a female trespassing on his property. Officers responded and apprehended Jenein E. White, 36, of Union. Ms. White was charged with Trespassing and was released on her own recognizance. Officer Bryan Rodrigues investigated.

October 19, 2022 @ 11:32 A.M. – An employee of the Valero gas station, 302 Lincoln Boulevard, reported the theft of $30.00 worth of gasoline. Officer Jamie Marczak investigated.

As is the case with all defendants, charges are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
