News Release – January 24, 2023

January 5, 2023 @ 8:19 P.M. – A resident of Runyon Avenue reported they were a victim of fraud. The resident stated they received a call from an individual claiming to be a member of the Mexican Cartel, threatening to hurt their family member unless they paid a supposed debt. The caller then convinced the resident to travel to a nearby town and wire $1,900.00 to secure their family member’s release. After doing so, the resident learned that their family member was never in danger and that they were scammed. Officer James Morley investigated.

January 6, 2023 @ 10:42 P.M. – A resident of B Street reported a burglary and theft of cash and jewelry from their residence. The total reported loss was $30,291.19. Officer Joshua Pham and Detective Scott Mulford are investigating.

January 8, 2023 @ 9:06 P.M. – Allison M. Negron, 27, of Elizabeth was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop in the area of Greenbrook Road and Whitney Drive. Officer Anthony Painchaud investigated.

January 10, 2023 @ 11:55 A.M. – A resident of Lorraine Avenue reported their Target credit card was used to make a fraudulent $500.00 purchase. Officer Christian Dulin investigated.

January 10, 2023 @ 4:52 P.M. – A resident of Tree Top Road reported they were a victim of fraud. The resident reported that they were contacted through LinkedIn by an individual offering a cryptocurrency investment opportunity. After transferring funds over the course of several months, the individual ceased all communications and the resident realized they were scammed. The total reported loss was $91,842.00. Detective Paul Cerreto and Detective Scott Mulford are investigating.

January 10, 2023 @ 11:50 P.M. – An employee of 7-Eleven, 1280 Bound Brook Road reported a theft of Pedigree dog food cans, valued at $6.38. Officer James Morley investigated.

January 11, 2023 @ 8:08 P.M. – A resident of the Middlesex Village Apartments reported the theft of several packages. The total reported loss was $90.79. Officer Marc Arancio investigated.

January 13, 2023 @ 5:50 P.M. – A resident of Stephenson Avenue reported a theft of a catalytic converter from a Honda CRV. The reported loss was $1,000.00. Officer Colin DeVincenzo investigated.

January 13, 2023 @ 11:52 P.M. – A resident of Drake Avenue reported a burglary and a theft of cash and luxury purses from their residence. The total reported loss was $21,500.00. Officer Bryan Rodrigues and Detective Scott Mulford are investigating.

January 17, 2023 @ 3:17 P.M. – A resident of Chestnut Street reported a theft of a catalytic converter from a Honda Odyssey. The reported loss was $9,000.00. Officer Scott Christofides investigated.

January 18, 2023 @ 2:47 A.M. – A resident of Venice Avenue reported a theft of a catalytic converter from an Acura TL. The reported loss was $594.79. Officer Richard Szymczak investigated.

January 18, 2023 @ 8:06 A.M. – A resident of Venice Avenue reported a theft of a catalytic converter from a Honda Accord. The reported loss was $1,000.00. Officer Colin DeVincenzo investigated.

January 18, 2023 @ 11:00 A.M. – A resident of the Middlesex Village Apartments reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a Honda Accord. The reported loss was $1,000.00. Officer Colin DeVincenzo investigated.

January 19, 2023 @ 4:00 P.M. – A school official reported a bicycle theft at the Middlesex High School. The bicycle was later recovered and returned to its owner. Officer Colin DeVincenzo investigated.

January 21, 2023 @ 11:57 P.M. – Anthony C. Delacruz, 41, of Middlesex was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Martin Street. Officer Anthony Painchaud investigated.

January 22, 2023 @ 12:16 A.M. – Barbara A. Dunn, 68, of Hillsborough was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle complaint on New Street. Officer Richard Szymczak investigated.

January 22, 2023 @ 9:41 A.M. – The proprietor of SuperFood Fresh Supermarket, 738 Union Avenue reported an unidentified suspect shoplifted $255.66 in products from the store. Officer Scott Christofides investigated.

As is the case with all defendants, charges are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
