January 25, 2023 @ 11:48 A.M. – An employee of Metro Glass, 560 Lincoln Boulevard reported that a company check was altered and fraudulently cashed in the amount of $21,117.24. Officer Jamie Marczak investigated.

January 25, 2023 @ 7:21 P.M. – Kelly N. Thompson-Dunmore, 19, of Plainfield was arrested for an active warrant issued by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office during the course of a suspicious vehicle investigation at Victor Crowell Park, initiated by Officer Joshua Pham and Officer Anthony Painchaud.

January 26, 2023 @ 2:50 P.M. – An employee of Quick Chek, 107 Harris Avenue reported the theft of $75.51 worth of gasoline. Officer Jamie Marczak investigated.

January 27, 2023 @ 8:00 A.M. – Soje I. Rivera, 26, of Newark was charged with Shoplifting. Through investigation, it was determined that on January 20, 2023, Ms. Rivera shoplifted $255.66 worth of merchandise from SuperFood Fresh Supermarket, 738 Union Avenue. Officer Scott Christofides and Detective Sergeant Sean Flanagan investigated.

January 27, 2023 @ 7:36 P.M. – A customer of Mastercraft 1 Auto Body, 122 Bound Brook Road reported that their vehicle was stolen from the business at some point the previous evening. The vehicle, which was reportedly left unlocked with its ignition key inside, was later recovered in Plainfield. Officer Ryan Skow investigated.

January 28, 2023 @ 3:05 P.M. – A resident of Sherman Avenue reported they were scammed out of $4,500.00 by an unknown fraudster who contacted them by telephone and claimed that their Navy Federal Credit Union account was compromised. Officer April Menditto investigated.

January 30, 2023 @ 8:29 A.M. – An employee of the Middlesex Borough Department of Public Works (DPW) reported spray paint on the flood wall near Cap Lane. After Officer Colin DeVincenzo investigated, DPW remediated the graffiti.

January 30, 2023 @ 9:36 A.M. – The proprietor of Layla Transportation, 300 Lincoln Boulevard reported that a forged check was created in the business’ name and an attempt was made to cash it in the amount of $13,900.00. Officer Scott Christofides investigated.

February 1, 2023 @ 12:21 P.M. – The property owner of 277 Lincoln Boulevard reported a burglary and theft of a Yale brand forklift, reportedly valued at $5,000.00. Officer April Menditto and Detective Sergeant Sean Flanagan are investigating.

February 2, 2023 @ 2:30 P.M. – John Jimenez, 34, of Basking Ridge was arrested and charged with Burglary and Simple Assault. Through their investigation, Officer Paul Steffanelli and Officer Daniel Gurrell determined that on February 1, 2023, Mr. Jimenez entered a secure Amazon warehouse at 65 Baekeland Avenue and assaulted an employee.  Mr. Jimenez was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility.

February 2, 2023 @ 11:56 P.M. – Franklin B. Toaquiza Toaquiza, 23, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop on Hallock Avenue. Officer Bryan Rodrigues investigated.

February 6, 2023 @ 12:00 P.M. – A resident of Vogel Place reported that they were defrauded out of $750.00. The resident stated that they were contacted by telephone by an individual identifying themself as an employee of Homeland Security, claiming that their identity was compromised. The resident reported they were instructed by the caller to purchase Target gift cards at a nearby Walgreen’s and provide them with the card and access numbers. After doing so and releasing the funds, the resident realized they were scammed. Officer Paul Muldowney investigated.

February 8, 2023 @ 12:19 P.M. – While on patrol, Officer Joshua Pham located spray paint on the flood wall near Legion Place. After he completed his investigation, DPW remediated the graffiti.

February 11, 2023 @ 1:39 P.M. – Christian M. Chiassom, 41, of New Brunswick was arrested and charged with Shoplifting, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Canice S. Harris, 50, of Berlin was arrested and charged with Conspiracy, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of a Prescription Legend Drug following a shoplifting investigation at the CVS Pharmacy, 1252 Bound Brook Road. Mr. Chiassom was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility and Ms. Harris was released on her own recognizance. Officer Paul Steffanelli, Officer Richard Szymczak and Officer Daniel Gurell investigated.

February 12, 2023 @ 2:34 A.M. – Mohammed F. Ahmed, 30, of Iselin was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop on Second Street. Officer James Morley investigated.

February 12, 2023 @ 4:19 A.M. – A resident of Stephenson Avenue reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a Honda Pilot. The reported loss was $1,000.00. Officer Bryan Rodrigues investigated.

February 14, 2023 @ 5:53 A.M. – A resident of Voorhees Avenue reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a Honda Pilot. The reported loss was $400.00. Officer Christian Dulin investigated.

February 14, 2023 @ 9:15 A.M. – A resident of Lincoln Boulevard reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a Honda Fit. The reported loss was $600.00. Officer Ryan Skow investigated.

February 14, 2023 @ 9:46 A.M. – A resident of Fairview Avenue reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a Mitsubishi Outlander. The reported loss was $4,000.00. Officer Ryan Skow investigated.

February 14, 2023 @ 10:48 A.M. – While on patrol, Officer Colin DeVincenzo located spray paint on cement in the area of Bound Brook Road and Marshall Place. After he completed his investigation, DPW remediated the graffiti.

February 16, 2023 @ 2:45 P.M. – A resident of Edgeworth Street reported the theft of two license plates. Officer Richard Szymczak investigated.

February 18, 2023 @ 3:26 P.M. – A resident of D Street reported the theft of their child’s bicycle. Officer Joshua Pham investigated.

February 20, 2023 @ 8:47 P.M. – A resident of Lincoln Boulevard reported they were assaulted by an unknown assailant in front of their residence. Officer Ryan Skow, Officer April Menditto, Detective Scott Mulford and Detective Paul Cerreto are investigating.

As is the case with all defendants, charges are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
